Hearing Nelson
Hearing Nelson is a non-profit organisation that provides advice, support and education for anyone in the Nelson/Tasman region. We are open Monday to Thursday 9.00am to 4.00pm and are available to anyone who needs our help.
Our Education and Communication Manager Tracy Dawson goes into the community providing information to all age groups. She presents the Dangerous Decibels programme to school-age children educating them on safe listening levels and how to prevent hearing loss. Tracy also speaks to a wide range of people in the community regarding hearing loss and communication.
We have outreach clinics in 5 regions in the community and go into 11 rest homes to care for those who can’t get in to see us.
We have a very successful NZSL in schools programme run by Cathy Gutschlag, Cathy goes into schools and kindergartens and teaches New Zealand sign language to the children.
