Keynote speaker - Professor Dirk De Ridder. Neurosurgeon

Professor Dirk De Ridder is currently Professor of Neurosurgery at Dunedin School of Medicine, University of Otago and is recognised as the world leading expert on tinnitus. Dirk will present from the perspective of a Neurosurgeon on the causes of tinnitus, the complex nature of tinnitus, treatment options and developments in research. For anyone working in a noisy environment, who has experienced tinnitus or is interested in brain health this will be a very informative presentation.

Tracy Dawson - Education and Communication Manager for Hearing Nelson

Research indicates that one in three of our youth are showing signs of hearing loss due to unsafe listening habits. Tracy has spoken to over 5,000 students across the region, educating them about the risks of noise exposure. Parents and grandparents are encouraged to attend the talk and reinforce the case for preservation. Tracy will speak about noise induced hearing loss, how noise affects hearing, health and happiness, listening guidelines and the benefits of a taking a mindful approach to noise.
